 December 2006...
Gertie wishes all her visitors a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year for 2007...
September /October 2006...
It's that time of the year again, the dreaded MOT... Everything is fine except the brakes which just needed adjusting, so Gertie has a new 12 month certificate to keep her going. Not seen her for a few weeks though as she is currently tooked up at Chris Gilley Beetle's keeping warm... so no new pictures... yet...

18th June 2006...
Sunday the 18th June 2006 was my mother's wedding day... and who did she ask to get her to the church on time...? Gertie of course... all dressed up and a place to go... beep beep...

May 2006...
Gerties engine was looking a bit too grey lately so in April I got some new black '36hp' style tin-wear along with the CB Performance ICT linkage /filters kit... it may not have any more power but it sure looks meatier...

The new external oil cooler is also in place, just below the rear seats above the gearbox with the external oil filter sitting under the rear n/s wing... He's running at 2100 and can now cruise easily at 70/75mph without overheating...

April 2006... part 2

Gertie has gone off to Chris Gilley Beetles to have her engine dressed up with a few new goodies...

Firstly there is a new 36hp style doghouse shroud and black tinwear with CB Performance cast oval air filters with Porsche style linkage between the Weber ICTs - no performance gain here, these are just for looks....

During last summer she was running a hot on the motorway at 65mph, so, in an attempt to keep cool ahead of the lorries and coaches, there will be an external oil filter under the rear n/s wing off the bumper bracket and an external oil cooler under the back seat above the gearbox all linked to a CB Performance full flow oil pump. To fit the Maxi Pump a new Tri Mil exhaust will replace the VW unit in place, the same exhaust used for the stock Herbie's in last Summers movie...

She'll be home on the 28th April, just in time for Stanford Hall on the 30th...

April 2006... The VolksWorld Show 2006

What a weekend... I got an email on the 30th March from Ivan, the editor of Volksworld Magazine...

For this years VolksWorld show they had shipped over one of Disney's NASCAR Herbies - problems arose when customs failed to release the car in to the UK...

A 'Return of Herbie' stand had been set up at the main entrance and they needed a 'Herbie' within 24 hours. After a flurry of phone calls and failed attempts to arrange a trailer to get Gertie to Sandown Park in Surrey I made the decision to drive her the 230 miles and after a very long 61/2 hours drive we arrived to a fantastic welcome.

Ivan helped me to get her cleaned up and in position for all to see, and the VolksWorld staff tied balloons to her bumpers...

10am, 1st April the doors opened and the first car everyone saw on their way into the main hall was Gertie...

A massive thanks to Ivan, Gavin and their team for making me & Chris feel like a million dollars, you can't imagine how chuffed I was to have my Gert', on display, at Europe's biggest VW Show.

Whilst at the show I got Gert' new Scat fanshroud & tinwear, Bugpack external oil cooler & filter and a CB Performance ICT manifold, linkage and air filter kit...

The 2 pictures below were taken after the show, Gertie followed a nice looking '67 home for the week... naughty girl... Ivan has her holed up in his garage until I can get to London to pick her up... we'll be reunited soon...

March 2006. . . part 2
First trip out this year... Got Gert' out of her tent, fixed the off-side brake lamp, gave her a quick wash off and over the Pennines we went to Leeds for a cup of tea... grabbed Amanda's camera whilst hanging out of a window,  then back home to Manchester...

Nice to get out and about, really missed Gert' over the winter and fab to get those familiar waves and 'beep beeps' from passing cars - including a rather enthusiastic Z3 driver...

Won't be long until she's out and about all over the place... including the trip to Stanford Hall in April...

Winter is nearly over and Gertie is getting ready to get back on the road. Her next outing is planned and she will be at Stanford Hall in Leicestershire on Sunday, 30th April 2006... with at least 4 other Herbie replicas... As usual she will followed with a camera and pictures will appear within a few days if not hours...

We'll be meeting the other 'Herbies' at a motorway service station and cruising in together just like the picture below... should get a few beeps along the way,,,

Gonna be fun...
