My First Car...  
Way way back in 1987 when I passed my test my first car was a Vauxhall Cavalier 2000cc Sports Hatch. Bright Copper Metallic with a beige velour interior... classy eh..?!?
Ruby...
In 1989 I bought my first brand new car, a Vauxhall Nova 1.3 SR, her name was Ruby... I gave this to my Mum when I went to live in the States...
Lucy...

Lucy was a yellow 1970's VW; I bought her in 1995 without knowing anything about Beetles and it showed. 

I took the rear near-side wing off so I could clean her up and as I removed the mud the metal came away in chunks... What could I do? On my way home one day I passed a body-shop that had a white Beetle outside and thought they'd probably know how to help so I asked them for a quote to replace the whole rear quarter panel.

They said it would probably be expensive but I could have the white VW sat outside for £400....

In Summer 1996 I donated Lucy to 'Dub Henge', a sculpture made out of old VWs made to resemble Stone Henge... The two photos on the left show Lucy, the yellow rear end is also Lucy as is the centre car in the photo of the whole sculpture.
 
Boris...
The white VW sat outside for £400... MCK 746P; born 1975. Low mileage. Very little rust. His name was Boris... The pictures above are as I found him... The pictures below are of him just after his restoration...

I ran Boris for four years, at the beginning he was stock, upright headlamps, big bumpers etc but after 12 months I sent him for restoration and fitted pre 67 wings, semi decklid, sloping headlamps, popes nose [beak], small rear lights, blade bumpers and a pair of comfy seats! Not original but he looked great and was mistaken for a '65 on many occasions...

We parted company when I changed jobs, I wanted a car with window demisters etc... Some things in life you regret...

I still see Boris driving around Manchester, in fact I even considered trying to locate his owner to buy him back but reconsidered when we found Gertie on Ebay. I found more pictures of Boris tonight (17/12/2004), I have photo'd them below and above and will get the negatives developed of the restoration soon...
Barney...
After Boris I ran a 1995 Vauxhall Corsa 1.2LS named Barney... I kept this car until it started to cost me in repairs...
No Name..!
So for a brief period I had a 2 year old Fiat Brava, don't ask why (I think it was Chris' idea) but what a mistake, why on earth would I want a 5 door family hatchback when there's just me, Chris and the two dogs... So I went out one day and swapped it for...
Bogey...  
Bogey... a 1997 Vauxhall Tigra. Chris referred to it as a 'hair dryer' and regularly reminds me what a terrible drive it was; engine blew up after 4 days but I kept it for about a year until I decided I needed a convertible...
Miata 1...
In October 2002 picked up my first Mazda MX-5, deep metallic blue, 1600cc, something wasn't quite right so I in June 2003 I traded it for a new...

I traded this for the silver Beetle Cabriolet in August 2004...; 
 
Beemer W'...

Chris drove a metallic black BMW 320d, fully loaded with leather & airbags everywhere, 6 CD changer, climate control... how blurred is that picture?

That's until Raudi Audi arrived...
Mungo... I picked Mungo up on the 17th August 2004; seem to have caught the Beetle Bug as to speak... wasn't very happy with my new purchase... I went off the interior, all that grey plastic.... so I exchanged Silver Beetle [Mungo] for Black Beetle [Horace]...

Horace... I had Horace for 13 months, from October 2004, until I test drove the BMW Z4 I picked up on the 30th November 2005...

 
Raudi Audi... Arrived Tuesday 30th November 2004 to replace Chris' BMW 320d... went 3rd March 2006...

 

Humphrey... arrived 30th November 2005... left 11th September 2006...

I got bored so I thought it might be fun to go look at cars...

Off to the BMW garage in Rochdale and saw a black Z4... went home...

Next day I called to test drive it - had fun... then went home...

Next day signed the order form...

picked it up on the 30th November 2005...

This car only lasted a few weeks due to the amount of problems, the dealer replaced it for the Black Z4 within 2 months...

Chris fancied a change however loved his Audi A3 2.0 TDi DSG Sportback... so he changed it for an Audi A3 S-Line 2.0T FSi with manual transmission...

Fully kitted out with 18" composite alloys, bluetooth phone prep, PDC, upgraded stereo and speaker system, full leather and more I haven't found yet...
